National Induction Day for Office Bearers held on 23 Oct at SVC by Pravinaben Patel (Centre Chair)

The morning session was full of details about the practicalities of an office bearer’s role and clarification of certain evolving areas.

Our UK Chair Phil Heaton’s message was ‘Change is taking place in our Organisation’, we need to ‘unfreeze’ from where we are now; move forward; then ‘re-freeze’ at the next level.

The afternoon took the form of a workshop with some very useful ‘memory joggers’ to enable us to keep our focus on our vision and how to ‘Love All Serve All’ the best we can.

Swami’s Birthday Programme by Pravinaben Patel (Centre Chair)

This year, after much debate the Committee decided to scale down the celebration that is normally held. It was decided that as part of the ‘Ceiling on Desires’ sadhana we would support the Eye to Sai Project to provide Cataract operations in India. We expect that by scaling down our celebration this year that about 137 people will benefit with clear sight each operation costing about £8.

To help us understand the effect of cataract condition, a short video of the birthday celebration of two years ago was shown as seen by a cataract sufferer. It was a very blurred picture and frustrating experience. The same was then shown as viewed by normal sight.

ANYWAY

People are unreasonable,

Illogical and self-centred,

LOVE THEM ANYWAY.

If you do good people will accuse

you of ulterior motives,

DO GOOD ANYWAY.

If you are successful, you win

False friends and true enemies,

SUCCEED ANYWAY.

The good you do will

Be forgotten tomorrow,

DO GOOD ANYWAY.

What you have spent years building

May be destroyed overnight,

BUILD ANYWAY.

People really need help but might

attack you if you help them,

HELP PEOPLE ANYWAY.

Give the world the best you have

And you will get kicked in the teeth,

GIVE THE BEST YOU CAN ANYWAY
